Designation: Librarian Reporting to: Medical related – Chairman Operations related – Unit Head Key result area:  Establish a library that will completely fulfil the requirements of all medical and paramedical staff of the hospital  Formulate and establish standard protocols for all library activities  Acquire, preserve, organize and manage materials in order to encourage use of the medical library by medical and paramedical staff  Establish use of library software and automation that is contemporary and appropriate to the institution Qualification:  Master's Degree in Library Science + 1 year experience  Bachelor Degree in Library Science + 3 years experience  Diploma in Library Science + 5 years experience at senior level Knowledge and skills:  Library policies, procedures, methods, and professional standards  Knowledge of common resources (Books, Journals, Internet resources)  Thorough Computer knowledge  Experience of working with Library automated software  Knowledge of digital archiving  Knowledge of medical databases  Knowledge of open source medical journals  Knowledge of library networks  Knowledge of library associations Responsibilities:  Care of textbooks/journals/bound volumes/electronic format of data  Look up new releases & inform concerned head of the departments  Order books based on the indent  Cataloguing and classification for the textbooks  Periodical Subscription

 Check for missing issues & send the reminders

 Send periodical for binding – annually

 Annual budgeting

 Issuing books to medical and paramedical staff

 Download e-books preserve and provide services for medical staff

 Check stock to keep a track for availability every 3 months

 Library cleanliness & equipment maintenance

 Implement Library automation software

 Keep backup of the library automation software database

 Enter all library data into the system & to preserve and maintain the soft copies of library data

 Booking of library time for meetings

 After entering into the system to keep a track for payment made to the newspaper agency

 Coordinating with the translator

 Coordination with website representative, providing content

 Entering data into the system for internal departments

 Prepare the CME PGs certificate instruction given by doctor

 Prepare the PIB according to doctor’s instructions

 Help to search the article for preparing the protocols

 Prepare power point presentation for doctor and searching online for desired information and

pictures to incorporate in the presentation

 Maintain a positive, honest and cooperative attitude

 Interact with the IT & System department for arrangement of IT infrastructure at library

 Maintain Museum instruments – document & catalogue

 Preparing bibliography of articles reference by doctor

 Help the users for article preparation

 Update the latest medical information

 All medical related news, NU in media information – mail sent to all users

 Send all mail coming to info/care@nuhospitals.com, to the concerned departments

 Generate a report of day to day activities and sending the report to Unit Head

 Update Doctors credit points after every conference/CME

 Administrative support to all the dept if there is a need

 Identify, establish and implement processes and protocols for all activities of the department

 Zoom ID creation for all classes and meetings and sending invitation through mail via google

calendar.

Organization Support

 Support the organization when they required during emergency

 Act and obey the instructions given by the Unit Head to support the organization work during NABH and NABL audits Will Supervise:  Cleanliness – rest room (toilet), library windows & door.  Air conditioner maintenance  Housekeeping activity in library  IT activity in library Will Participation:  Participate in any programmed/event organized by hospital  Visit other special libraries for any new implantation  Visit membership libraries for inter-library book/journal loan Job description is dynamic and will change depending on the organizational requirement, periodically
